Hi there! Nice to meet you.I'm Genevieve Messenger - a writer, a civil celebrant and a workshop facilitator. In fact I have so many creative hats, my life feels like improv theatre at times.
My passion is creating ceremonies, where I work with real human stories and emotion. Such 'live theatre' where the participants are living the experience, requires a sensitive script, a powerful set and a director with vision. I bundle these skills under all my creative hats, most recently with my women's river retreats in my beautiful hometown of Blackwood, Victoria, where I host accommodation and a Yoga studio, available for workshops year round. I work at bringing balance to my life through meditation and photographing the world around me, shared in my gallery. |

Keeping to the scriptEverything and everyone has a story. By listening well, I have made an art form in capturing the essence of a moment with words. Its what I do.
I trained as a professional, actor, writer and producer in theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in Melbourne, and also have a Masters in Screenwriting (VCA). I have written numerous plays, scripts and performed in professional productions over the years (and still do!) I also write people's stories into civil ceremonies in my work as a civil celebrant (see Messenger Celebrate Life) and develop and facilitate meaningful workshops for women (see Women's River Retreats). |
