Bookings

"I invite you to come with no expectations and be surprised what will come through you onto the page."

Genevieve Messenger

Do you have writer’s block?

Have you got a book inside you waiting to be written?

Are you an established writer who is looking for new inspiration and direction in their work?

Are you ready to get in touch with your own inner wisdom?

Do you want to listen to the different voices that live inside you?

Do you get inspired by others?

Or are you simply wanting to locate your own voice?

... then this writer’s workout weekend is for you!

Results of this workshop have included people starting their own novel,  autobiographical or fiction; re-membering stories from their past, writing words for healing, images for art projects, release of creative blocks and established writers finding new directions in their work.
The Writers' Workout Weekend with Genevieve Messenger is an amazing opportunity to create a space in your life to write. We all have our own unique voice. Everyone has a message to share, a story to tell, a conversation to be heard.

WHERE:
Blackwood, Victoria (I hr 15 mins from Melbourne CBD).
Blackwood is a beautiful old gold mining town on the edge of the Wombat State Forest. It is surrounded by bush and the Lerderderg River runs through it. It has a pub, a Merchant café, a Mineral Spring and a few other suprises. And it’s beautiful in Autumn.

ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation is in the centre of town. It’s cosy dormitory style with central heating and a fire place. We have our own kitchen and work area.

PROGRAM:
We start at 4.30pm on the Friday and finish midday Sunday (just before lunch). We usually gather after the last session and have a snack to finish off. Then you have plenty of time to explore Blackwood for the rest of the day.
  • The weekend will include, visits to local cafes, bush walks, writing sessions, vegetarian meals, sharing and meeting like-minded writers.
  • The sessions are in blocks of two and half hours where the writer is encouraged to keep writing without taking the pen off the page.
  • The writer prepares with a light physical warm up, to balance the right and left-brain and to locate the energetic impulse within the body.
  • Stimulus is offered to the group through the facilitator, to start the creative process.
  • This includes lines of dialogue, images and short meditations to allow them to dive deeper into their creative world without judgment or criticism.
  • You can bring a blank page or existing project. You can write in the style you focus on; prose, poetry, lyrics, screenwriting, playwriting or journaling.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
Anyone who has the desire and the fire in their belly to write! All types of writers, emerging, beginning or established will benefit from these sessions.

It also is known to help the creative process for choreographers and screenwriters working with image and story.

WHAT TO BRING:
Bring your diary, notebook or whatever you like to write on! You may also want to bring your own pencils or colored crayons to draw with. Some people like to draw before they write.

Once you book I will give you more detail on what to bring, but basically it’s your single bedding, toiletries, boots and jackets and loose comfortable clothing.
